No, your hard disk has 4340MB. :-)

Please be specific as to exactly what you're doing.  

It looks like you're playing with the geometry and corrupting the
disklabel.  Don't touch the gemoetry and allocate the entire disk in
sysinstall. 

FreeBSD version, install method, etc. would be helpful too.
