Hi all,

I don't know if this the right place to be sending this, but I am trying
everything at the moment.

Heres the score:

While trying to update my freebsd server from 3.4-stable to 3.5 stable,
something got corrupted. After downloading the sources and running a make
buildworld, I happened to run ps to check if apache was still running. To my
surprise, I got the following error:

ps: proc size mismatch (4984 total, 1048 chunks)

Think that all that was need was a reboot, I did exactly that, only to find
that the machine would not start normally. It starts booting normally, only
to fail after probing the hardware with the following:

....
changing root device to wd0s1a
pid 5 (sh), uid 0: exited on signal 12
Jul 19 12:06:02 init: /bin/sh on /etc/rc terminated abnormally, going to
single user mode
Enter full pathname of shell or RETURN for /bin/sh:

Any attempt to run /bin/sh gives:
pid <previous process id + 1> (sh), uid 0: exited on signal 12

I can run /bin/csh, but if I try a make or similar such thing I get similar
errors, and any attempt to run ps gives the same proc mismatch error.

I am fumbling around in the dark at the moment, so any help would be great.

Thanks in advance, and sorry if this isn't the right list to post this to...
