The only .cnf file is /usr/local/share/mysql/wsrep.cnf, and the
only two "default" files are /usr/local/bin/my_print_defaults
and /usr/local/man/man1/my_print_defaults.1.gz.

Maybe the file /usr/local/include/mysql/server/my_config.h can
provide some further hints?

If not, obtain the source (!) using the ports collection (with
"make fetch" and "make extract"), as the documentation of MariaDB
says that the sample configuration file should be part of the
_source_ distribution which _might_ differ to what the MariaDB
port's maintainer chose to (not) include in the _binary_
distribution.

If you don't find anything in the source distribution, you should
contact the port's maintainer, because, well, obviously something
is missing that the official documentation says should be there...
