Hello

A friend of mine is having troubles with a 2940 being
recognized on a HP Vectra Xm (Pentium 166, 80M/RAM, Seagate HD/1.08G,
Lance PCI ether card, an IDE HD with win95.

The PCI probe on boot returns:

Probing for devices on PCI bus 0:
chip0 <Intel 82437 (Triton) PCI cache memory controller> rev 2 on pci0:0
pci0:7: Adaptec, device=0x6178, class=storage (scsi) int a irq 9 [no
driver assigned]
lnc1 <PCNet/PCI Ethernet adapter> rev 22 int a irq 11 on pci0:8
lnc1: Lance Ethernet Controller, address 08:00:09:cc:fd:ca
vga0 <VGA-compatible display device> rev 0 int a irq ?? on pci0:13
chip1 <Intel 82371 (Triton) PCI-ISA bridge> rev 2 on pci0:15:0
piix0 <Intel 82371 (Triton) BUS-master IDE controller) rev on pci:15:1

That is, the 2940 at pci0:7 is not recognized and the driver not assigned.
May this be some plug & play BIOS setup/trick ?

Thanks for any hint,

Pedro
