This would only make sense if applicable to the port itself, not its
dependencies...

There is an example in the Handbook, that explicitly talks about shared lib=
rary
bump of a dependency, but, according to the example provided there, that do=
es
not apply to non-default options:

this would not happen with official binary packages (because they don't link
with libx265).
