They're really quite useful.  I had to pout my printer on top of a file 
cabinet (whose idea was it to give professors a 3'x5' desk and no 
computer table?).  My cable just wasn't long enough, though.  Zip to 
the rescue!  plug in a parallel zip drive, then plug the printer into 
the zip!  YOu'rein business.

I suppose I could have asked for a deisk to put in it, but my data's 
more important than that . . .
