Todays 7-STABLE seems fine. FreeBSD 7.2-STABLE #1: Thu Nov 12 17:20:36 CET 2009 GENERIC amd64 bce0 has firmware 5.0.9 and is attached to brgphy instead of previous ukphy. bce0: mem 0xd6000000-0xd7ffffff irq 36 at device 0.0 on pci1 miibus0: on bce0 brgphy0: PHY 1 on miibus0 brgphy0: 10baseT, 10baseT-FDX, 100baseTX, 100baseTX-FDX, 1000baseT, 1000baseT-FDX, auto No more "PHY write timeout" messages on shutdown or bootup. So problem seems solved by 7-STABLE. Miroslav Lachman
