I've just installed FreeBSD-5.3-amd64 on an Athlon64 3200 and GA-K8VT800 motherboard. The kernel modules, in contradiction to the handbook, seem not to contain any named snd_*. Nor can I find any clues in /usr/src/sys/amd64/conf/NOTES on how the kernel or modules for sound support are to be included. Some selected dmesg lines:--------------------------------- pcib0: <ACPI Host-PCI bridge> port 0xcf8-0xcff on acpi0 pci0: <ACPI PCI bus> on pcib0 pcib1: <PCI-PCI bridge> at device 1.0 on pci0 pci1: <PCI bus> on pcib1 pci1: <display, VGA> at device 0.0 (no driver attached) pci0: <serial bus, USB> at device 16.4 (no driver attached) isab0: <PCI-ISA bridge> at device 17.0 on pci0 isa0: <ISA bus> on isab0 pci0: <multimedia, audio> at device 17.5 (no driver attached) And from 'pciconf -lv':-------------------------------------- none1@pci0:17:5: class=0x040100 card=0xa0021458 chip=0x30591106 rev=0x60 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'VIA Technologies Inc' device = 'VT8233/33A/8235/8237 AC97 Enhanced Audio Controller' class = multimedia subclass = audio Any help would be appreciated.
