There are **definitely** problems with IDE CDROMs and ZIP on the same WD
controller under 2.2.6 - Release.
Grab updated versions of atapi.c and and atapi.h and recompile your
kernel.
better yet : cvsup to 2.2.whatever-is-Stable and make world.
