nfsd is started first on my setup as well.  However, rpc.statd then
hangs for a while before the boot continues.  Then, when I try to mount disks
on this machine from another, I get:

NFS  Portmap RPC: Program not Registered.

I assumed that this was a problem with rpc.statd not running
correctly.
