Make sure that the Laptop you buy is not only supported by a
X server but that it supports it *well*.

I have a Compaq LTE 5380 (great internal 1024x768 but unfortunately
only 256 colors). The graphics chip, Cirrus 7548, is supported by
XFree86 but it is not working ok on this laptop.
