If you're looking to start understanding the FreeBSD codebase, probably
the best thing for you to do is buy and read _The_Design_and_Implementation_
_of_FreeBSD_.

I just finished reading it's predecessor, _The_Design_and_Implementation_of_
_the_4.4bsd_Operating_System_, and it's cleared up a LOT of my
misunderstandings on how the Unix kernel works ... I can only assume
that the newer one will be even better.
