  What's the best way to get one of those cheap ESS1868 ISA PnP sound
cards to work with FreeBSD v2.2.6? I've setup the following in my
kernel config file -

controller pnp0
device pcm0 at isa? port ? tty irq 10 drq 1 flags 0x0 vector pcmintr

but dmesg reports the following at bootup -

<clip>

Probing for PnP devices:
CSN 1 Vendor ID: ESS1868 [0x68187316] Serial 0xffffffff
This is an ESS1868, but LDN 1 is disabled
Probing for devices on the ISA bus:

...

psm0 at 0x60-0x64 irq 12 on motherboard
psm0: model Generic PS/2 mouse, device ID 0
pcm0 not found at 0xffffffff
pca0 on motherboard
pca0: PC speaker audio driver

</clip>
