MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Sender: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG Hi all. I'm planning on getting a sound card for use with my FreeBSD box. uname -a gives the following: FreeBSD cscall.swan.ac.uk 2.2.8-RELEASE FreeBSD 2.2.8-RELEASE #0: Mon Nov 30 06:34:08 GMT 1998 jkh@time.cdrom.com:/usr/src/sys/compile/GENERIC i386 I was thinking about using the Sound Blaster Live card. Has anyone tried this card with FreeBSD? Is it compatible? I'd like to be able to transfer audio data from my Sony MiniDisc Recorder via the (optical) digital outputs direct to the computer. I'd need a Sound Card that had optical digital inputs *and* was compatible with FreeBSD. I'm not sure wether I can do this with the SB Live (must do more research), but I figure there must be cards out there with this capability. Any recommendations? Please cc replies directly to my email, as I'm not subbed to the list. Thanks in advance. G.
