Julian,

My Nikon Coolpix 4500 continues not to work on my laptop in 4.9--although
it works just fine on my desktop, running the same version of FreeBSD.
The difference is the controller:
 usb0: <VIA 83C572 USB controller> on uhci0 [desktop, works]
 usb0: <NEC uPD 9210 USB controller> on ohci0 [laptop, doesn't work]

Connecting the device shows:
umass0: NIKON Nikon Digital Camera E4500, rev 1.10/1.00, addr 2
 umass0: BBB reset failed, STALLED
umass0: BBB bulk-in clear stall failed, STALLED
umass0: BBB bulk-out clear stall failed, STALLED
