Subject: How to get Apache to dump a core file?

I am using apache13-modssl/Makefile,v 1.106

This and previous versions of the Apache port occasionally crash with
signal 11. (I am familiar with the signal 11 FAQ; my RAM is fine :)

1) How do I get Apache to save a core file when it crashes? While other
applications on my system generate core files when crashing, Apache does
not. I added
CoreDumpDirectory "/tmp"
to my httpd.conf to no avail. I still don't get a core file.

2) To facilitate debugging, I would like to compile the port with
symbols, that is to say with option "-g".

Rather than introducing unknowns by compiling Apache by hand, I would
like to compile the port from a modified port Makefile, with the
addition of the -g option being the only change to the port.
Unfortunately, I am unclear where in the Port Makefile to stick this
option. Can somebody please let me know how and where the Port Makefile
should be modified to compile the port with -g?

Thanks in advance,
