BTW, if you do go this route then when purchasing the Radeon VE/7000 care needs to be taken that it is the multi-interface (DVI/SVGA/TV-Out) and not the unsupported split cable version. BTW, the release notes for XFree86 4.3 detail support for upto Radeon 9x00 so spending more money and also being able to play games is an option.
