- Add the device radeondrm to you kernel config and recompile, or load
  the radeon.ko kernel module.
- Install the xf86-video-ati driver (this is xorg 7.3!)
- Load the right modules in xorg.conf;
Section "Module"
        Load    "dri"
        Load    "glx"
        Load    "dbe"
        Load    "extmod"
        Load    "freetype"
        Load    "type1"
EndSection
- Use the radeon driver in xorg.conf:
Section "Device"
        Identifier      "Card0"
        Driver          "radeon"
#        Option          "AGPMode"               "8"
#        Option          "DDCMode"               "true"
