So ... the way you get around that, is, you look in
ftp://ftp-archive.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD-Archive/old-releases/i386/`uname -r`/packages/All/
for the package name, then:

pkg_add -r ftp://ftp-archive.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD-Archive/old-releases/i386/5.3-RELEASE/packages/All/xorg-clients-6.7.0_4.tbz

And now I can run xfig. :)
