Thank you for the great product and much help onmy previous question. Now I have a really small one: I'm trying to customize prompt to show prompt number. I added PS1="(\#) $" export PS1 to /etc/profile, but as prompt I get *literal* (\#) $ instead of something like (24) $ Where did I screw up? BTW, what is the way to change root prompt in the same manner?
