I just ran a 1520 (k?) through our testbed FreeBSD system. It was connected
to an Exabyte 8505XL... system locked during a dump. Switched just the
SCSI controller (to an adaptec 1840) and dump worked perfectly.

*shrug* not truly conclusive as I could easily have had something messed
up, but you can get the faster 1840 or 1940 for under $200... why not
get them?
