Please, count my vote for this approvement. It can help, for example, translation teams. I have future plans to start man pages translation for different branches, it will be more clear to me track them in appropriate branches.. P.S. Is doc freeze over? I seen commits to doc tree without "Approved by:" line, but missed "freeze over" announce.
