[ cross posted to questions and bugs.. hope that's ok ]

I upgraded my machine recently, both hardware (new system)
and sofware (2.2-whatever -> 2.2.5).

Now I'm seeing two problems that have occasionally plagued me before.
They seem to have been around for a long time...

Problem #1: switching virtual consoles while X is running
----------

Switching virtual consoles while X is running often "locks up" the
keyboard and display. Keystrokes don't register on the screen, and
any attempt to switch virtual consoles generates a beep.

Workaround on new system: ctl-alt-del to reboot
Workaround on old system: Downgraded to earlier version of X server

Problem #2: booteasy can't boot SCSI disk
----------

I have an IDE and a SCSI disk, with Adaptec 2940W + BIOS. Upon
booting, the booteasy on the IDE is run:

   F1: DOS (Windows 95)
   F2: BSD (empty partition)
   F5: Disk 2

My root is on the SCSI disk, so I press F5...

   F1: BSD
   F5: Disk 1

Pressing F1 here *should* boot the SCSI disk, but it doesn't.
Booteasy just comes back with the same menu and "F?". I've
made the BSD partition active using FDISK, and even rewritten
out the partition table on the SCSI disk.

Workaround on new system: use a boot floppy -> 1:sd(0,a)/kernel
Workaround on old system: don't remember but somehow I got it to work

I figured since I had these bugs so long ago (ie, years) they would
for sure be fixed by now... but guess not. Are these bugs known?
Is there a fix (if so, which source files)? Should I file a PR?
I'm interested in the technical explanations, if any..

Thanks,
-Archie
