Gentlemen,
I am novice in FreeBSD and UNIX at all. I try to install FreeBSD and
succeeded in it basics. Now I want to post-install LYNX, APACHE and SAMBA.
I grabbed them as packages (not ports), respectively
        lynx-2.6.tgz
        apache-1.1.1.tgz
        samba-1.9.15p8.tgz
They were palced in the DOS partition as
        lynx.tgz
        apache.tgz
        samba.tgz
The sysinstall was tuned to DOS, but it refused to recognize them with a
remark it needs also packages/INDEX.
Please help me. My questions are:
1. Must I unpack these .tgz files?
2. Where have I to place these files in the DOS partition and how can I
make sysinstall to see them?
3. If I need to install some other packages what kind of procedure I have
to use instead of sysinstall?
Thank you in advance.
Best regards

Velian G. Velev
