how about this...

$ x=0; while [ $x -lt 255 ]; do echo $x; host 216.155.24.$x; x=`echo "$x + 1" | bc`; done

this'll do a whole class c.  modify the original value of x and the number
in the test command to narrow the range of ips checked.
