I'm new to FreeBSD and I'm not sure if this is the correct list but here goes. I've been having trouble installing 3.3-RELEASE via ftp from a local mirror. The install dies while extracting bin. After regetting the files multiple times, I think there is a problem with distribution on ftp.freebsd.org. The md5 sum that I get (after regetting several times) for bin.ec is: a3a144670416db0ef6821a872392b580 bin.ec the file CHECKSUM.MD5 says it should be: MD5 (bin.ec) = 15b7dc56838eaa3ced32e89cf6a51cfb All the other bin.?? have the correct MD5 sum. Also when I try to test the distribution: cat bin.?? | tar -tzpf - I get: ./ bin/ bin/cat bin/chio ... usr/lib/libmytinfo.a usr/lib/libmytinfo.so.2 usr/lib/libmytinfo.so usr/lib/libncurses.a tar: Skipping to next file header gzip: stdin: invalid compressed data--format violated tar: Child returned status 1 tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors Broken pipe -- This is the same place the install dies when I alt-F2 during the install. Is anybody else having the same problem or is everyone using the ISO image? Any help, including a better place to direct this question, would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike Michael J.
