What's that? See X(1).

Under X11, the <Multi_key> is very interesting. You could put it
on the right Alt or Ctrl or some similar useless key. <Multi_key>
allows you to "compose" characters from a sequence. E.g, you enter
<Multi_key><a><*> and get 'å'.
