Stupid error on my part.  I lost my /etc/hosts file somewhere.  I recreated it and everything is fine now.

Does your ISP have a firewall?
That would certainly do this.  Stupid config of it, but....

No, they wouldn't work from anything that was going to/from my class-C.

What are you using to test www?  Lynx?

I tried everything MSIE, telnet, ftp, lynx....
