Well the code I had fetched was a strange mix of FreeBSD versions.
I haven't the slightest idea how it came to be.  I had ftp'ed the
data via an ncftpget of the whole directory.

I erased everything, redownloaded everything, and all is proceeding
much as I would normally expect.
