Since they are uuencoded gzip'ed files -- there is zero % lines that remain the same and thus the repo bloat is a big factor. This is true but the fact remains that a lot of us need 4.x compatibility. We are currently producing FreeBSD snapshots that won't run many binaries from our latest official FreeBSD release simply because of our source code management system. I think that the repo-bloat is an acceptable price for the basic ability to run common FreeBSD applications. If I'm a minority with this stance then we can back-out the change and put up a tarball somewhere. % You also should have done the Alpha bits at the same time if you were % going to do the i386 bits -- now you've done a 1/2 job.
