I want to add, that I don't get much mail regarding this... so feel free to
spread the load.

Also: Joel and me are contacts regarding the list, not technical contacts for
the items. If there's no technical contact listed, then this means there's no
technical contact (yet), so you should ask your questions on the appropriate
lists. If we would know a technical contact willing to provide help, we
would have listed him, so asking us about a technical contact for an item
doesn't make sense (I suggested to Joel to add a text which explains this,
but as he already explained: he's busy).

As a side note: if there's no technical contact, most probably I did came up
with the entry based upon own ideas or comments on a mailinglist. So asking
Joel isn't really the right thing to do... and even I may not be able to
answer your questions, since I added entries where I have absolutely no
knowledge about the underlying technology.

If someone wants to act as a technical contact for an entry, please speak up
(or add yourself to the item in case you are a committer and know how to do
this).

The entries aren't set in stone, you can make everything out of them. You can
implement just a basic part of an entry, or even a all signing and dancing
solution which does 10 times more than the entry requested (e.g. a complete
backup server solution instead of "only" a NDMP data server... but the
management part of this may belong into the ports collection instead of into
the base system).

If someone has some nice additional ideas (I'm sure I'm not the only one who
can come up with ideas without a technical contact...), please point them
out (preferred are nice texts like the NDMP one, they get higher priority
for adding them to the list than just "implement foobar" like messages).

Helpful URL's, clarifications, extensions and the like are welcome too.

This sounds like you are wearing strange clothes...
  ;-)

Bye,
