Thanks for summing that up so well, Kevin. I would just add that it's probably worth trying to get the card working on a non-PAO setup first. You can always install it later if you find you need it for some other piece of your hardware. Not that I have anything against PAO, it's just that neither I nor (I think) any of the other if_xe developers run it so I can't guarantee that it won't interact badly with the driver.
