He is on good terms with DPT and has visited their headquarters in Florida. At one time he was considering porting his driver to FreeBSD, but I think that he didn't have the time. It was initially hard for him to get anything out of DPT. He signed the NDA, but they agreed to let him release the driver under the GPL. I've talked a few times with Michael, and I don't think there would be a problem with slapping on the standard BSD copyright if someone wanted to port his driver to FreeBSD.
