But when I try to use ipfw I got a error, just like the same before I enable it in rc.conf: ipfw: getsockopt(IP_FW_GET): Protocol not available Before that I've tried to build a new kernel with 'options IPFIREWALL' and it seemed can work: after the new system booted all the network blocked, then I see the way said in the handbook and tried it. I'v tried to search on the FreeBSD web site but got nothing about that, and through google the other sites only say I should recompile the kernel. I'm a new user for FreeBSD, before that I've only used Fedora, and many years ago, Redhat. This time our web server running Win2003 got some problem and I'm trying to shift it to FreeBSD. Is there any good articles describing how to builder a reliable and efficient web server? These represent problem reports covering all versions including experimental development code and obsolete releases. Bugs can be in one of several states: o - open A problem report has been submitted, no sanity checking performed. a - analyzed The problem is understood and a solution is being sought. f - feedback Further work requires additional information from the originator or the community - possibly confirmation of the effectiveness of a proposed solution. p - patched A patch has been committed, but some issues (MFC and / or confirmation from originator) are still open. r - repocopy The resolution of the problem report is dependent on a repocopy operation within the CVS repository which is awaiting completion. s - suspended The problem is not being worked on, due to lack of information or resources. This is a prime candidate for somebody who is looking for a project to do. If the problem cannot be solved at all, it will be closed, rather than suspended. c - closed A problem report is closed when any changes have been integrated, documented, and tested -- or when fixing the problem is abandoned. I revised and updated the section, rewording and reorganizing parts for clarity. I also pointed out the /etc/pf.conf move in FreeBSD 7.0 (docs/121321: Handbook should reflect new pf.conf defaults) and addressed why you would want to compile PF support into the kernel. (There was a comment on the freebsd-doc list recently about compiling pfsync into the kernel.) They are similar acronyms, but distinct. An APIC is an interrupt controller, and disabling it can avoid problems with interrupt storms, but is unlikely to affect power handling. If you re-read that section of the Handbook, you will see that it refers to disabling the APIC, not ACPI. To sum up: it's Ok to change the current doc for www/nspluginwrapper since this one can be used under both i386/amd64 arch. But regarding the flashplugin version, the linux-flashplugin7 is known to be stable (most of time) but I'm not sure the same can be said for linux-flashplugin9. -- Marc From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Apr 4 02:11:10 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 47F871065674 for ;
