Specifically, a simple C program is generated to check #if OPENSSL_VERSION_NUMBER < 0x0090813fL, indicating that OpenSSL is at least version 0.9.8_13. The version indicated in /usr/include/openssl/opensslv.h is 0x0090811f, indicating version 0.9.8_11.
