Another datapoint. Did you find any solution? I browsed this mailinglist's archives at freebsd.org, but I didn't find any hints on how to solve my problem. ;-/ Now the problem is getting more complicated, even: I was wrong about the irq, Linux assigns irq 3 to the A1, FreeBSD only recognizes it, when /boot/device.hints says hint.isic.0.irq="11" When I try to make FreeBSD assign irq 3 to the A1, I get an error message. I also tried deactivating my serial ports (sio1 uses irq 3), but then - I don't understand, why - Linux didn't recognize the A1 any more. =) But with irq 11 assigned to the A1, FreeBSD still gives me error message I got before. ;-/ I suspect the problem to have to do with something called "lcp-restart" in my SuSE Config-file for synchronous ppp. Here is the corresponding section of /etc/ppp/options.ippp0 (ippp is Linux' couterpart to FreeBSD's sppp / isp): :: # if you have problems with handshaking (no response for first :: # lcp-package) try to decrease the retry-cycle. Default is 3 sec, :: # try for example 2 sec: :: # lcp-restart 2 :: # sometimes you need this: :: noccp I remember that setting lcp-restart to the default value of 3 seconds did *not* work, and I had to set it to 1 secons unter Debian. Is there some option to set this under FreeBSD? Or isn't that my problem's cause? Thanks in advance, Kind regards, Benjamin - -- "Der Hoffnung beraubt sein, heißt noch nicht - verzweifeln."
