Set lpt0 to IRQ -1 (or use lptcontrol to set it to polled mode).

DeskJets also hold the page in memory until it reads a formfeed; if you
hit the 'resume' key after the UNIX box finishes, does the printed page
come out? If so, read the Handbook section on printing to add a trailing
formfeed to your jobs.
