It is probably same bug[1] in GTK that has been fixed, so try to upgrade 
your GTK.. Also, current in the ports tree has Evolution 1.4.5.. Update 
your ports tree and use portupgrade to upgrade all apps, then test with 
your Evolution again to see if it's fixed.

tree in few hours ago.
