I did this :

cvsup -g -L 2 ports-supfile
cd /usr/ports/net/openldap24-server
make ( I reuse the same config )
make deinstall
make reinstall

This worked fine until I tried to upgrade to 2.4.22 ( 2.4.21 running )

the database was OK the 2.4.21 slapd daemon has restarted well
