telnet(1) is behaving rather strangely when dealing with escape sequences. Please try 'telnet bbs.cis.nctu.edu.tw' and type "guest", it will appear as "uest" only. telnet(1) on -stable does not exhibit such behaviour. ssh(1) is also immune. The problem could be in libtelnet since zh-telnet port is also affected.
