There's no difference between an external & external modem - assuming 
the internal modem behaves properly.  Make sure that it's installed 
with a *unique* IRQ (if it's com3, it *can't* have IRQ 4), then just 
update your ppp.conf with the correct device (/dev/cuaa2 for com3).
