is it possible to play midi files w/ the above card?

w/ the default option of "pcm", i couldn't; i get "/dev/sequencer not
configured" error if i try (via playmidi).

here is /dev/sndstat...

FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm) Jul 31 2001 14:18:18
Installed devices:
pcm0: <ESS Technology Maestro-2E> at I/O port 0x1400 irq 5 (4p/0r channels duplex)

...and 'pcm' in dmesg...

pcm0: <ESS Technology Maestro-2E> port 0x1400-0x14ff irq 5 at device 8.0 on pci0
pcm0: Maestro DMA base: 0x7000
pcm0: ac97 codec id 0x83847609 (SigmaTel STAC9721)
pcm0: ac97 codec features 18 bit DAC, 18 bit ADC, 5 bit master volume, SigmaTel 3D Enhancement
pcm0: ac97 primary codec extended features AMAP
pcm0: pch[0].offset = 0x8000
pcm0: pch[1].offset = 0x10000
pcm0: pch[2].offset = 0x1a000
pcm0: pch[3].offset = 0x22000

...i tried searching the lists/google, anything even remotely
relevant mention soundblaster options/drivers.

is there any hope of salvation?
