The bad news is: You can't mount a Powershot because it does not work in USB mass storage mode (it uses PTP: picture transfer protocol). 
The good news is: You don't have to because gphoto2 (http://www.gphoto.org/) can access PTP cameras without mounting or unmounting on your part. gtkam (http://www.gphoto.org/proj/gtkam/) is a nice, simple GUI for gphoto. Both programs are in the ports. 
If you want you CAN mount your flash-card though. But you'll have to take it out of the camera and put it in a flash-card drive (or whatever it's called).
