This is new to me too. :)

Is it a perl library written in c compiled for Linux?  If that's the case, 
then yes.  compat_linux builds a full directory structure beneath 
/compat/linux.  You'd install it there (I think...)

You're going to have to experiment on this one I'm afraid.
