System: FreeBSD mikea.ath.cx 4.3-STABLE FreeBSD 4.3-STABLE #7: Sun Jun 3 20:22:43 CDT 2001 root@mikea.ath.cx:/usr/src/sys/compile/MPFW7 i386

dual CPU Intel P-III/866, FreeBSD 4.3-STABLE, Intel, libraries unknown
>Description:
mount_smbfs fails. Command and error message are shown below:
		mikea# mount_smbfs -I hp //mikea@hp/c /smb_hp_c
		mount_smbfs: vfsload(smbfs): Exec format error
an additional line is written to /var/log/messages:
		Jun 8 19:44:36 mikea /kernel: link_elf: symbol iconv_open undefined>
Problem is completely and reassuringly repeatable.
SMBFS mounts also fail at boot time. Output from dmesg -a is:
		smbfs:
		link_elf: symbol iconv_open undefined
		smbfs:
		vfsload(smbfs)
		:
		Exec format error
		/smb_hp_c
		link_elf: symbol iconv_open undefined
		smbfs:
		vfsload(smbfs)
		:
		Exec format error
		/smb_win_c
		link_elf: symbol iconv_open undefined
		smbfs:
		vfsload(smbfs)
		:
		Exec format error
		/smb_win_d
		link_elf: symbol iconv_open undefined
		smbfs:
		vfsload(smbfs)
		:
		Exec format error
		/smb_win2_c
