It's distributed under the terms of the GNU License agreement. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but from the web page, it sounds like there shouldn't be any problems compiling Mesa under FreeBSD/XFree86. Here's what the web page has to say about supported hardware: 3Dfx Voodoo: Cards based on the 3Dfx Voodoo chipset (such as Diamond Monster 3D and Orchid Righteous 3D) are supported under Linux and Windows 95. Look here for the latest info. This is the best supported 3-D hardware for Linux at this time. 3Dfx Voodoo Rush (rendering into window): Supported under Windows. Linux support is underway. GLINT-based boards: Look [at the web page] for the latest info. S3 Virge: Supported under Windows 95 since Mesa version 2.5. Cirrus Mondello: No longer supported- download Mesa 1.2.8 if you're interested in this driver.
