I tried ifconfig with "media" and "mediaopt" options. Although "ifconfig xl0" shows the change, the ethernet switch it's connected to says xl0 didn't change @#$%!. (The switch is okay.) I know the switch is correct because the speed of traffic went down the tubes with "collision" indicator almost lit solid (at the switch) when there's good amount of traffic.
