CVS revisions are replicated from the cvs2svn[1] so backward
compatibility isn't broken for those that rely on programs like csup(1)
or cvsup(1) from ports.

If you can spare another ~500MB of disk space to use svn instead then I
would highly recommend it as benefits of using svn[2] to track sources
are much more than that of csup(1) or cvsup(1).

Anyway, not to cut you short but if your using 8.2-STABLE and YES...
that's "8.2-STABLE" meaning it is the stable branch after the
8.2-RELEASE! then you can safely checkout the sources from [3] and
ZFSv28 has already been merged no patching necessary.

For those that believe it really is "8-STABLE" sorry but that could
designate that branch anyway from 8.0 -> 8.3 and after. You should at
least have the diligence to specify branch at what period of release as
that is pertinent to where the sources were at that given time.

uname -a:
FreeBSD disbatch.dataix.net 8.2-STABLE FreeBSD 8.2-STABLE #0 r223343M
352:951b1b185f19 Tue Jun 21 11:14:51 EDT 2011
jhell@DataIX.net:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/DISBATCH i386

1). http://svn.freebsd.org/base/cvs2svn/
2). ports/devel/subversion-freebsd
3). svn co svn://svn.freebsd.org/base/stable/8/ /usr/src/

Regards.
