i am having trouble with "gatewaying" between the lp0 interface and the
fxp0 interface.

i have a laptop connected to the lp0 port of a 2.2.7 machine and gateway
is enabled, i can telnet back and forth between those ok.

i cant get to the internet though, its like the packets coming from
the lp0 intfc are not directed to the fxp0 intfc.

i can ping the ip address of the fxp0 interface ok though but not
beyond onto my internal net.

firewall is off and i havent rebuilt the kernel YET..

here is the netstat -rn from the suspect machine.

the .3 machine is my gateway onto the internal net.

Internet:
Destination Gateway Flags Refs Use Netif Expire
default 192.168.0.3 UGSc 3 22 fxp0
127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1 UH 0 0 lo0
192.168 link#1 UC 0 0
192.168.0.3 0:a0:c9:21:13:44 UHLW 4 67 fxp0 586
192.168.0.5 127.0.0.1 UH 0 0 lo0
192.168.0.6 192.168.0.5 UH 0 8 lp0
$

its gotta be obvious but i am a network newbie.

i tried route add 192.168.0.5 192.168.0.2 and got

a whole bunch of address is already in use. errors...

help!
