Some additional motivation / justification for this modernisation.  The IETF
NTP WG's best current practice draft discourages the use of 3 and even 4
sources.  It is defining best current practice to use the automatic "pool"
configuration command (or equivalent), with more than 4 sources (4 instance=
s of
the command results in more than 4 sources).

it is entirely safe to be ahead of the final standard / recommendation.
